The Meridian CUSD #15 Board of Education held its regular October meeting on Monday, October 21. At the beginning of the meeting, the district issued the following public statement:
"As contract negotiations continue between the Board of Education and the Meridian Federation of Teachers, the district wishes to inform the public of the status of negotiations. On Wednesday, October 16, the Meridian Federation of Teachers initiated a public posting process with the State of Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board. With this process, both the MFT and the district will submit their most recent proposal to the Labor Relations Board within seven days. Subsequently, the Labor Relations Board will publicly post the submitted proposals on their website after another seven days. So, within the timeframe of Illinois labor statute, the most recent proposal for both the MFT and the Board of Education will be publicly available. The district will also post the Board of Education’s proposal to the district’s website. The Board and the MFT are scheduled to meet again on Wednesday, October 30."

High school football and volleyball are nearing completion. The football team plays their final game at Warrensburg-Latham Friday night and the volleyball team begins regional play next week.
The new elementary school will be hosting a Veteran’s Day Program on November 11, at 9:00 a.m.
The middle school highlighted 32% of the student body who earned perfect attendance for the first 30 days of school.
The high school recognized this year’s Illinois State Scholars including Emma Childers, Sean Hill, Madilyn Kapchinske, Layla Lucas, Alexa Oliver, and Karolyn Spain.
In regular business, the Board approved the fiscal year 2024 annual audit. The audit was conducted by Floyd and Associates. As a result, there were no findings. Additionally, the Board approved the district’s Risk Management Plan, which gives the district authority to levy for the Tort Fund. The plan also details allowable expenses from the Tort Fund.
In personnel action, the Board approved the resignation of Kristi Webster, Autumn Boliard, and Matt McNeely. The Board approved the hiring of Matt Tangney as the middle school assistant boys basketball coach. The Board also approved Scott Barr and Shannon Houser as middle school volunteer assistant basketball coaches. Lastly, the Board approved the semi-annual review of executive session minutes. It was found that all minutes pertained to executive session and should remain in closed session.
The next regularly scheduled meeting is Monday, November 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Meridian District Office.
