The Meridian CUSD #15 Board of Education held its regular September meeting on Monday, September 16. Information from administration was shared with the Board that included: (full administrative reports can be found on pages 2-6 at this link)
Middle school baseball and softball are nearing the end. Softball ended the season with a record of 11-10 and baseball begins regional play next week.
The district has begun a curriculum mapping process to determine where curriculum improvements can be made throughout the district.
The new elementary school STEM lab has been busy with activity. Students have been creating a wide array of projects.
The middle school band recently performed, “America the Beautiful,” at Busch Stadium prior to the Cardinals game.
The high school recently recognized the $1,000,000 mark of the Dell and Evelyn Carroll Scholarship fund, which allows Meridian graduates to attend RCC tuition free.
In regular business, the Board approved the fiscal year 2025 budget, which provides for a surplus of approximately 2.3% of the expenditures in the operating funds. About 60% of that amount is from the Working Cash fund. The Board approved the annual FFA trip to the National Convention in Indianapolis. Approximately ten students are scheduled to attend. Additionally, high school graduation was set for Saturday, May 10, at 5:00 p.m.
The Board approved an Intergovernmental Agreement with Central A&M that will provide mutual aid in the event of a crisis. The agreement allows for staff and transportation to be shared in the event that one of the districts would need to evacuate a campus. Lastly, the Board approved an increase in substitute teacher pay to $135 per day.
In personnel action, the Board approved the resignations of Kayla Parker and Marsha White. The Board approved the following hires, Carrie Perry- Macon campus cook, Jenny Eson- Macon campus custodian, Holly Osborne- MES library aide, and Riley Allen as a volunteer assistant football coach.
The next regularly scheduled meeting is Monday, October 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Meridian District Office.
