The Meridian CUSD #15 Board of Education held its regular April meeting on Tuesday, April 22. The meeting also served as the reorganizational meeting for the new Board. Spring sports including baseball, softball, soccer, and track are underway at the high school along with track at the middle school.
MES has numerous upcoming events including the 3-5 spring concert on April 29.
MMS recently participated in the American Heart Challenge with the American Heart Association raising $2,551.
At MHS, the FFA held their annual banquet on April 6, recognizing members for their achievements throughout the year.
Based on the results of the election on April 1, new Board members Samantha Murray, Jill Parton, and Matthew Trimble were sworn in and seated with the Board. Additionally, the Board took action to appoint Joe Lash to a two year unexpired term.
In regular business, the Board approved renewal of membership with the Illinois Elementary School Association.
In personnel related matters the Board accepted the resignations of Jorji Sparrgrove and Heather Diffenderfer as teachers along with Mariah Seitz as the middle school cheer coach. The district welcomes the following new teachers Emily Kuhn (third grade), Anna Enlow (first grade), Carla Franzene (MES special education), and Christopher Raymond (band). Additionally, Brian Britton was hired as the district’s next Athletic Director.
