School Board Meeting

The Meridian CUSD #15 Board of Education held its regular January meeting on Tuesday, January 21.  Information from administration was shared with the Board that included: (full administrative reports can be found on pages 2-4 at this link)

  • The high school girls basketball team recently took second place in the county tournament.  Senior, Brooks Brown, finished the Vandalia Tournament 14th all-time in rebounds for a single tournament, finishing with 55.

  • At the mid-way point of the year with our new IXL program, students at the elementary school have mastered 8,504 skills, demonstrated proficiency in 10,124 skills, and have answered 390,389 questions in the program.

  • Eight middle school students currently have artwork on display at the Madden Arts Center in Decatur.

  • At the high school 166 students met criteria for the first semester to be exempt from one final exam.

In regular business, the Board approved PRESS Policy update 117.  In personnel action, the Board accepted the resignation of first grade teacher Bailey Felter, and approved the hiring of Heather Diffenderfer to fill the position.  Mrs. Diffenderfer joins Meridian Elementary with nine years of teaching experience in Kentucky and Virginia.  Lastly, Haley Durbin was approved as a volunteer soccer coach for the spring season.

The next regularly scheduled meeting is Monday, February 17, at 6:30 p.m. at Meridian Elementary School.
