Parents/Guardians of Meridian High School Students,
This morning, Meridian High School Administration received a copy of a student social media post making reference to potential school violence. While no direct threat was made against any students, staff, or personnel at Meridian High School, the administration immediately implemented its Threat Assessment Protocol. Working with the Macon County Sheriff’s Department and school personnel, this particular incident was quickly alleviated. After a thorough investigation by school administration and the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, it was determined this situation to be non-threatening and, at no time, were students, staff or personnel in any danger. The Meridian CUSD #15 takes any such incident seriously and will work diligently to ensure the safety of all. Furthermore, we will continue to maintain a close relationship with the Macon County Sheriff’s Department and our thanks go out to them for their quick response and cooperation.
If you should have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the high school office at 217-764-5233.
Respectfully
Eric M. Hurelbrink, Principal
Daniel R. Brue, Superintendent
