YOUNG ARTISTS SHOWCASE UPDATE -
The Young Artists Showcase awards ceremony that was scheduled for tonight has been POSTPONED because of the weather. This event has been rescheduled to January 24 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.


A big congrats goes out to 8th grader Addi Hendershot. Not only did she have artwork accepted for this year's Young Artist Showcase, but her artwork was also selected to be displayed as the face of the show! Congratulations once again to the following Middle School Students: Lucas Roberts, Addi Hendershot, Logan Lott, Chance Lewis, Ruby Major, Levi Henderson, Kyndall Gillen, and Brayden Moretti. Their artwork was chosen by Gallery 510 to be displayed at the Young Artists' Showcase January 10th-25th. The Decatur Area Arts Council and Gallery 510 will host the Young Artists Showcase Awards on January 10th from 5-7. The exhibit in the Anne Lloyd Gallery, presented by Gallery 510, features artwork created by students in the 5th through 8th grade from Macon County and surrounding areas. Please check it out! Office and Gallery Hours: Monday-Friday - 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Additional Gallery Hours: Saturday - 10 a.m.-2 p.m.


Report cards for the 2nd quarter will be printed and provided to all students today. Grades are also posted and finalized on TeacherEase. There is an option to view the actual report card by selecting "more" on the app. Any questions about a particular class/grade should be directed to the appropriate classroom teacher.


The MMS Drama Club cast kicked off the new semester yesterday with their first drama club practice. This is going to be a show you won't want to miss!


The school district is in need of substitute custodians. If you are interested in making additional money please contact the district office at 217-764-5269. We offer paid training.


Students will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday for school improvement. Study hall is very short, so please make sure all transportation arrangements are made in advance!


With today's teacher in-service being postponed due to the weather, 2nd quarter report cards will now be sent home with students on Thursday (1/9). If your child was absent before break, please make sure all work is completed and ready to turn in when we return tomorrow so grades can be finalized!


Tomorrow's MMS boys basketball game at Shelbyville has been postponed due to the current weather conditions. A rescheduled date will be communicated in the near future!


Congratulations to the MMS students who had art accepted into the Young Artists' Showcase this year! Artwork will be on exhibit in the Anne Lloyd Gallery in Decatur from January 5 - 25. Thank you, as always, to Mrs. Perrey for submitting the artwork so our students' artwork can be displayed for the community to enjoy!


We are looking forward to students returning on Tuesday, January 7 for the 2nd semester! New schedules will be provided to all students during 1st hour and will reflect any class changes for the 3rd quarter.
Wednesday is a 1:30 p.m. dismissal for school improvement. 2nd quarter report cards will be provided to all students. Please note that final grades could be pending based on student attendance at the end of the quarter. Grades will be updated by teachers as soon as possible!
Scholastic Bowl Tryouts will take place on Thursday, January 9 and Friday, January 10 from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. in Mrs. S. Moyer's classroom. Interested students should only plan to attend one of the tryout dates. Please make sure transportation arrangements are made in advance and rides are available for pick up.

They only need to attend one of the tryout dates and should have transportation arrangements made for pick up at 3:30!


When our students return, they will take the MOY IXL Diagnostic Assessment to ensure levels and recommended skills are up-to-date as we head into the 2nd semester. Students have worked incredibly hard since we implemented IXL in August, and we are looking forward to seeing even more growth in the months to come. Check out the students who finished on top of the Leader Boards in December!

Beginning last April, the district began a project to upgrade all classroom instructional technology which was 9-10 years old. Funded entirely through a grant, the district has invested $165,460 and has updated 54 classrooms with new instructional technology! Lower elementary classrooms received new 85" Smartboards, while upper grade levels are utilizing 75" displays with an iPad for the interactive component.
