Meridian HS had some special visitors over Labor Day weekend. The Atlanta Braves P.R. team came out to do a story on their manager Brian Snitker who was a part of our school's well known 1971 State Championship Finals baseball team. This is the story that inspired the book "One Shot at Forever." Snitker's wife Ronnie, was here to do the interview as well as some of the members of that team, including the 1971 coach, Mr. Sweet. Some of the memorabilia including the 1971 trophy and book are located in our trophy case. Check it out the next time you are here.

Hometown hero, Brian Snitker has been very gracious with his Snitker Foundation. The foundation has allowed our baseball field to have a wonderful scoreboard as well as facility and equipment updates. Meridian is very thankful for his generosity.

You can view some of the footage of the PR event in the Facebook link below. Some pictures of this weekend's event are also attached.

This week, we want to give a big SHOUT OUT to a few individuals who were "caught" making new students feel welcome during the first few weeks of the new school year. Adjusting to something new is never easy, and we appreciate these students going out of their way to be a friendly face to our new Hawks!

Please help us keep our students and drivers safe by following our drop off and pick up procedures for the Macon campus. All car riders (middle school and high school) should be dropped off/picked up at the MHS main entrance (Door 13). The buses pull into the circle drive closest to Wall Street and drop off/pick up at the MMS main entrance (Door 3). Thank you in advance for making this a priority!

Reminder

We are excited to welcome back our students for the new school year on Tuesday! It is a 1:30 p.m. dismissal for the first day.

Please review these reminders for MMS -

The doors open at 7:25 a.m. 6th graders will report to the gym and 7th & 8th graders will report to the cafeteria to wait for dismissal at 7:40 a.m. They should get breakfast upon arrival. Please make sure your child arrives to school with plenty of time to get ready for class to start at 7:46 a.m.

All car riders should be dropped off and picked up from the high school entrance. We ask that parents take the drive north of campus (Macon Drive) that leads to the sports complex to keep the traffic flowing. The buses will drop off and pick up in the circle drive of the MMS entrance. For the safety of our students, please follow the arrival and dismissal procedures when dropping off or picking up your child.

The upcoming lunch menu for the Macon campus can be found here - https://www.meridianhawks.net/o/middle-school/dining

Make plans to join us on Friday at Green & White night to support our athletes! In addition to high school football, soccer, and volleyball scrimmages, all fall athletes will be introduced at 6:00 p.m. The concession stand will be open and the Ag Foundation will have sandwiches for purchase.
