Staff had the opportunity to work with Dr. Todd Whitaker during his presentation, "What Great Teachers Do Differently." Dr. Whitaker is a nationally renowned educator and author of more than 60 books. Staff also received one of his books titled What Great Teachers Do Differently.

This week's Hawk Proud award goes to Isaac H. Isaac was nominated for helping one of the custodians pick up trash that was left behind in one of the restrooms. Thanks for helping to make our school a better place, Isaac!

Trenton D. was another top fundraiser for our 8th grade, so he was today's Principal for the Day. Trenton enjoyed helping with various office tasks and picked this week's Hawk Proud recipient. It has been a lot of fun having student helpers in the office this week!


Congratulations to this week's Hawk Proud Recipient - Austin A! Austin is a creative writer and was nominated by one of his teachers for sharing one of his recent writing assignments with the class. Way to go, Austin!

Today's Principal of the Day was Brody B. He was one of the top 8th grade raffle ticket sellers for our fall fundraiser. Brody helped pass out Accelerated Reader incentive snacks as one of his tasks for today.


Maxine P. was the top fall raffle ticket seller in the 6th grade, so she was our principal for the day. Maxine did a great job helping with various tasks around the building and passed out treats to some of our April birthdays.

The Scholastic Bowl IESA Regional bracket was posted today! The Varsity Scholastic Bowl team will complete on Wednesday, April 24 at Mt. Zion Jr. High. The Hawks have a bye for the first round, so they will take on Riverton at 5:30 p.m. Good luck!

Our students & staff headed out to the football field this afternoon to experience the solar eclipse. It was a beautiful afternoon and a very cool experience for our students! Thanks to the MJHS for purchasing bomb pops for all our students to enjoy. It made the experience that much sweeter!








This week's Hawk Proud award was presented to Landri R! Landri was nominated by one of her teachers for volunteering to help set up equipment before school one morning. Landri is kind and helpful, and we appreciate when students offer to help our teachers out!
