Our students & staff headed out to the football field this afternoon to experience the solar eclipse. It was a beautiful afternoon and a very cool experience for our students! Thanks to the MJHS for purchasing bomb pops for all our students to enjoy. It made the experience that much sweeter!

Maddie B., Amelia F., Alyssa M., & Coach Kirby represented MMS at today's 8th grade volleyball all star game held at Skywalker Complex today. Awesome job, Hawks!
The math teachers challenged the students to memorize the beginning numbers of Pi on March 14. The winners from the different math sections got to pie their teachers to wrap up today's activities. Jaxson C. was the overall winner - memorizing 115 digits!
We are ready for Spring Break and baseball season!
To kick off Spring Break and MLB season, students are encouraged to wear their favorite baseball jersey or fan gear to school tomorrow. Students will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. There is no school from Thursday, March 28 - Monday, April 1!
Don't forget that high school orientation is scheduled for TONIGHT at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Mr. Hurelbrink and Mrs. Johnson request that all 8th graders attend with at least one parent or guardian. They will be discussing expectations and course requirements so that students are ready to meet with Mrs. Johnson for scheduling after Spring Break!
There were several talented Meridian students in the Emerald cast of The Decatur Park District's Wizard of Oz! The Ruby cast will take the stage tonight & tomorrow with a few more Meridian students taking the stage. Great show!
3rd quarter report cards were printed and sent home with all students this afternoon. Grades have also been finalized and posted on TeacherEase. Please reach out to individual teachers with questions about grades.
Fannie May candy orders were sent home with students today. Please double check orders to ensure they are correct. Any discrepancies must be reported to the office by Friday!
The Hawks fell to Staunton this evening, but they should be very proud of how they played tonight. They had an excellent season and were fun to cheer on!
Congratulations to our two Hawks who received the sportsmanship pin during post-season play! Alyssa Meisenhelter received the pin at the Regional Championship and Madison Briggs received the pin at the Sectional Championship!
The district is excited to announce that our current elementary school principal, Lori Guebert, will be changing roles next year. She will become the district's Special Education Administrator/Curriculum Director. In this role she will supervise and provide support throughout the special education department. Additionally, as Curriculum Director she will work with teachers to provide assistance and resources as the district will be taking on a comprehensive curriculum review and mapping process next school year. Mrs. Guebert will also work to align professional development for staff. As such, the district is accepting applications for the elementary school principal position.

The time of the regular March School Board meeting has been moved up one hour. The meeting will be Tuesday, March 19, at 5:30 p.m. in the district office.
Don't forget that these girls are playing in the IESA 8-3A Sectional volleyball game tonight at HOME! Our Hawks will take on Staunton in the High School gym starting at 6:30 p.m. Make plans to come cheer them on!!!
